Disturbingly 80's, but I did it myself
Behold the self-patterning sock yarn I dyed (my first time) at Knit Michigan this past Saturday. I was going for a "watermelon" feel (pink and green, with black Fair Isle "seeds") but in actuality the colors turned out VERY neon, and the Fair Isle patches are a bit longer than they should be, resulting in a diagonal stripes thing in that section. The pink and green parts, though, did work out into surprisingly even stripes- I can get around 1, 2, or 3 times (depending) with little to no stitches left over at the end. Giving their blinding appearance, they'll be Emma socks- nothing's too wild for her.
OH, speaking of socks, if you got the new Patternworks catalog, check out pg. 13. The ankle socks pattern they are offering for SWTC Tofutsies is one of mine!

Very cool, and definitely the right colors to cheer up these blah days we've been having!!!!
It may be a bit '80s, but it looks awesome. It reminds me of my florescemt t-shirt and stretch pants childhood!
Funky colors...just my style!
Love the colours! They also remind me of the clothing of my teenage years. Congratulations on getting another pattern published too.
Yarn looks marvelous!
Seeing the skein at KM, I would never have guessed they would knit up like that. They do remind me of a watermelon though. I'm sure Emma will love them!
Wow, these colours rock big time - they're so funky and cheerful! Yay for the 80's!
Does Vogue Knitting use the same ad? If so, I remember the socks and liked them. What was it like knitting with yarn made with shrimp and crab shells?
