That new sweater

The one I finished recently for SWTC, that is, in their new Inspiration. It's on their website now. Scroll all the way down, it's the Retro Wrap Sweater.
Also, be sad for me-- got a rejection yesterday from Creative Knitting. It happens, I know, but it's never fun.

Harlot (again)

Going to see the Harlot again this Sunday-- if you are too, I'll see you there!

Feathers and Sequins

Last night was my school's annual auction, with a 20's theme- check out the feathers! I will use any excuse to wear a boa, seriously. (That's why I love tap- sometimes I get to wear one!)Hubbo was in charge of the whole deal, so of course I got home shockingly late (and got up early to take the girl to a birthday party, looking a bit haggard, I'm afraid!) This afternoon I'm indulging myself in dvd's and knitting (and chocolate). The weather is gorgeous today but for right now I'm content with a spot by a sunny window...

Catching up

The theme for this week has ended up being catching up. I finished another design for SWTC, FINALLY did my taxes (been putting it off), and took care of some random details and stuff for work. Of course, I still haven't cleaned my house at all, but one thing at a time, please.

Happy Birthday to me

And it was a good one! Hubbo took me to stay in a hotel last night (a nice escape from the piles of work and mess around the house) and to the Melting Pot for dinner, which I love (you can never have too much cheese and chocolate, of course!) It felt like a vacation, which I really needed! The best part was when the valet suggested I was turning 25 (33, to own the truth). Today (my actual birthday) I spent with the Beth and Sonya at Have You Any Wool for Knitter's Afternoon In and drinks afterwards- very fun. Plus, I got presents!

Can you tell I like pink?

On top of that, I finally finished my Chocolate Covered Cherries socks, and made some progress on Vintage Velvet, which I've ignored for months and months. Just getting a bit of old knitting under control before going any farther on new design projects. Both the socks and the scarf were started wayyyy back in October!

What was Piglet doing in the toilet?

According to Emma, "looking for Pooh." She has a new joke book and has been tirelessly working on her standup routine. She got a microphone for her birthday, so...
Speaking of birthdays, I spent an hour and a half at the Secretary of State this morning renewing my driver's license (my birthday is tomorrow, so last chance!) I shouldn't have put it off, considering the insane lines on a Saturday, but there you go. At least I brought a sock along to knit, so I wasn't bored or anything. I pity the muggles, you know...they looked so antsy.

Ready your dpns

Good news today-- I got a call from Cast On magazine-- they want to use a sock design I submitted for the Fall issue. It will be in SWTC Tofutsies. As soon as I get the color I need, I'm going to get crackin' (at some point I want to knit a pair in Tofutsies for myself, maybe someday!!)

Emma's socks are finished!

I finished grafting the second toe just as Emma was going to bed-- her first question was, "Can these be night socks?" She was very anxious to wear them! Just a basic top down sock (got the formula committed to memory now) on size 1's using the yarn I handpainted at Knit Michigan last month (I use 52 sts for her socks these days). I have tons left- from the looks of it enough for a whole other pair at least!

Cross your fingers

For the sweater I knit and sent for a photo shoot in merry old England...we're not exactly sure where it is right now (yes, I'm stressing!) Think package-arrivaly thoughts for me, okay?

Quick and fun

Finished another project for SWTC this weekend, some quick and easy cabled fingerless gloves in their Gianna yarn. I like Gianna- it works up quickly and is good and wooly, yet with a nice softness and sheen from the Soysilk. I love the color too, it's #038.

Mailbag

Another week over... it was a busy one! I got some neat stuff in the mail this week, namely a copy of Purls Forever (by Jonelle Raffino of SWTC) in which I have 2 patterns, and also a nice big box of yarn for my next few designs for them! Under the book is the sweater on which I'm currently sewing buttons and popping in the mail next week- just a peek! It's in SWTC Inspiration (Soysilk/alpaca) which wasn't my favorite yarn to work with at first, but as I worked I found it softer and softer, so all is well. It's got a nice fuzziness to it too.

In the box is SWTC Gianna (Soysilk/wool) which works up nice and fast (think I'll do that one next) and also Rock and Craft from the Vickie Howell Collection. I hadn't seen Rock yet and wasn't expecting such a soft yarn, seeing as though it's 30% hemp! It's nice, and I love the colors.
