You know how it is when you smell something you've smelled before? Like one time I was at a restaurant and the hostess smelled like my grandma (same perfume, sillies). Anyway, I've been knitting like a madwoman with the Malabrigo I got from Vogue the other day and, unlike other Malabrigo I've used, this batch smells like an old boyfriend's house. Not a bad smell, not sure what it is, but I don't think I've smelled it anywhere else, so it struck me odd. Weird, huh?
LOL.....funny how the stank can come back to haunt you.
ReplyDeleteI ordered some vintage knitting needles off of Ebay and when they came and I opened up the package I found myself in tears because it smelled just like my Grandma's house.
From time to time I'll have a patient that uses "fanciful" hair rinse on their "do". I would know the smell anywhere and it brings back memories of my early days in cosmetology school.
I guess I didn't burn off all of my brain cells in my 20's.
That's funny. I totaly know what you mean. But apparantly I did burn a few brain cells back in my 20's.... so long ago you know.. because when I smell something that is familar I CAN'T think of where I smelled that smell before and then I drive myself batty until I figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI had a bad one last week when I bought a skein of Debbie Bliss aran Chunky. When I went into my little room later, I could smell something obnoxious. It was the yarn! I took it back and they replaced it, but I left them sniffing all the skeins! I think it was a petroleum sort of smell, definitely chemical, and really awful! It smelled up the bag it was in, too. Weird! :O)
ReplyDeleteI so know what you mean! I had a boyfriend in high school whose bedroom (naughty, naughty) had a certain scent to it... Not bad at all, pretty strong, kind of a clean/fruit sort of smell. It must have been an air freshener or something, and to this day when I get a whiff of that smell, I remember sitting on the edge of his bed and playing with his pet rats (yes seriously).
